  • § 1 - Talking about the future with will:
    Statements and negative statements

In English we can use different verb forms to talk about something in the future.

    We use the will-future...

    (1) ...when we make a spontaneous decision, an offer or a promise
    (2) ...when we make a prediction or assumption (we talk about things we cannot control: I think, I believe, I expect, I hope, perhaps, probably...)
    (3) ...when we want to say that something will definitely happen

    (1) I promise! I'll visit you in London! - (2) I'm sure Emily will like her new bedroom. I think the weather will be hot in Greece. You'll probably find the song boring. - (3) Tom will be 15 next month.
