infomercial about mangas

Manga are Japanese comics. They are a normal part of life in Japan, like books, TV, and games. The word “manga” means “fun pictures”. One early example is Hokusai Manga from 1814 by Katsushika Hokusai. It was a book of drawings, not a long story.

In the 1900s, newspapers and children’s magazines printed short comics. After the Second World War, manga grew quickly. Osamu Tezuka helped shape modern manga with longer stories and clear panels.

Today, manga are often made for weekly magazines. A mangaka plans the story, draws a rough storyboard, and then finishes the pages with ink or digital tools. Popular series are later collected into book volumes called tankobon. Some become anime.

Many manga are read from right to left. Manga often shows school life, friendship, and hard work. Compared with many Western comics, manga stories are often longer and follow one storyline for years.
