Subject: Hello from Mountain Camp!

Hi Mum and Dad,

Our youth camp is in a small village in the mountains. The cabins are wooden and a bit old, but they’re warm and comfortable. I really enjoy it here because everyone is friendly and the staff are funny. We can go skiing, play table tennis and relax in a cosy games room.

We have to be on time for meals and lessons, and we mustn’t use our phones in class.

Yesterday we practised turning on an easy slope and then we watched a film in the evening. Tomorrow we’re going to try night skiing.

My favourite thing is the hot chocolate after dinner.

I don’t like the very early wake‑up.

Love,

Emma

Subject: My new camp life

Hi Mum, hi Dad,

This camp is much bigger than my last one.

There are four‑bed rooms with bunk beds and a big dining hall. It’s quite noisy, but it’s never boring.

I like it because there are kids from lots of different countries. We can go snowboarding, build snowmen and play football in the snow.

We have to wear helmets, keep our room tidy and be quiet after ten o’clock.

Yesterday we went on a long ski trip and I fell a few times, but I was OK. Tomorrow we’re going to have a disco in the main hall.

The best thing is the games room.

I don’t like the food – it’s a bit strange.

See you soon,

Noah

Subject: Greetings from Winter Adventure Camp

Dear Mum and Dad,

I’m at a winter adventure camp near a big ski resort. The hostel is modern and bright, and our room has a great view of the mountains.

I like staying here because the instructors are very kind and patient. We can go skiing, do climbing on an indoor wall and chill out in a lounge with sofas and board games.

At this camp we have to follow the safety rules and we’re not allowed to leave the area without an adult.

Yesterday we had our first lesson on the chairlift and later we baked cookies.

Tomorrow we’re going to try a new blue slope.

I love the evening campfires, but I don’t like sharing a bathroom with so many girls.

Love,

Lara

Subject: Snow Camp – day three

Hi Mum,

Our youth camp is right next to the ski lifts, so it’s really practical. The building is quite simple, but my dorm is comfortable and I get on well with the other boys. I enjoy the camp because there’s always something to do. We can practise skiing, play video games in the common room or just chat.

We have to be on time for roll call and we mustn’t be noisy at night.

Yesterday we did a race on the easy slope and I actually came second!

Tomorrow we’re going to visit the town and buy souvenirs.

The best thing is learning new tricks on my skis.

I don’t like the long walk back up the hill when the lift is closed.

Hugs,

Ben
